Ways To Avoid Credit Card Fraud Or Theft

There are many ways you can be a victim of credit card fraud or theft. A couple of examples of this include telephone solicitors claiming to be someone they aren’t to get your credit card information and losing your wallet or having it stolen.

If someone calls you claiming to need your credit card information never give them any information without first verifying who they are and what company they are from. The best way to do this is to tell them you will contact them with the information. Then simply hang up and contact the company they claimed to be from and verify that the call was legitimate.

In the event that your wallet is lost or stolen, report it immediately. Call and cancel all your credit cards and notify your bank. When you do this it will prevent whoever has it in their possession from using it without your knowledge or authorization. The credit card company can also monitor if an attempt is made to use your cards and take proper steps to stop its use. Always make sure you know who you are talking to when giving out your credit card information. Following these tips will greatly reduce your chances of becoming a victim of credit card theft or fraud.
